25th Sederi Conference

Selves & Communities: Identities & Representation in Early Modern England

The Organising Committee of the 25th International SEDERI Conference and the Spanish and Portuguese Association for English Renaissance Studies invite proposals for contributions that critically explore questions related to the English Renaissance. The conference theme focuses on (but is not restricted to) issues related to the construction of individual and communal identities in Early Modern England.

The new deadline for paper and thematic panel proposals is March 15th,  2014. Early-bird registration ends on April 11th,  2014.

  • Mapping selves and identities: cities, topographies, and geographies
  • Shaping identities. Science and enquiry / sport and the body
  • Religious and reformed identities
  • The construction of national identities  
  • New World selfhood and otherness
  • Racialist designs of identity
  • Editing identities: book history and textual culture
  • Translation and intercultural exchange
  • Performing identities
  • Premodern gender: tales of sexuality and feeling
  • Any other topic on early modern literature, language and culture

  • THE DEADLINE FOR THE SUBMISSION OF PAPER AND PANEL PROPOSALS HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL MARCH 15, 2014
